Operating Rhythm: Meetings That Don't Suck

A startup of 5, 50 people needs a deliberate rhythm of communication. Without it, you'll either drown in meetings or operate in fog.

#operations

The minimum viable meeting cadence

  • Daily , 15-min standup, only blockers (or replace with a written async one).
  • Weekly , 60-min team meeting, last week's results + next week's commitments.
  • Bi-weekly , 30-min 1:1s between every manager and report.
  • Monthly , all-hands with metrics, wins, losses, and what's coming.
  • Quarterly , planning offsite to set the next 90 days of priorities.

Replace status meetings with writing

If a meeting is purely 'who did what,' it should be a doc. Reserve synchronous time for decisions, debates, and unblocking , not updates.

Calendars don't lie. Audit yours. Whatever it shows is what your company actually values.
